I have been practicing yoga regularly since 2003, initially using the practice in an effort to find relief from lower back and hip discomfort. Ultimately, I have been blessed with finding so much more.
The integration of the yoga practices are a complete mind / body experience. Finding calm and inner peace amid the chaos of everyday life has been an essential part of the journey for me. Yielding to the flow of life and making time on a regular basis to draw my attention inward for the practice of yoga enables me to become more fully present in every moment. This ability to find stillness of the mind while flowing with effortless movement is the essence of yoga for me. The benefits of the physical practice leave me feeling healthy and confident which is naturally an added bonus.
I am grateful for the teachers, friendships, and experiences I have found along the way. I believe yoga is for everyone regardless of age or flexibility. As a teacher I feel my job is to guide the experience but ultimately the path of the practice lies within each individual’s own intuitive wisdom. Initially students should take time to find the alignment of each posture so that eventually the body can move with the integration of breath easily and confidently. The practice should not be about striving to contort one’s body into any particular pose. Allowing time to fully assimilate the mind / body connection is important and necessary.
I trust we are all here to teach one another and with firm resolve of our thoughts, words, and actions we are able to use yoga as a transformative tool to create the life we desire.
