Liesl has been a practicing physical therapist for 20 years with specialties in pelvic floor rehabilitation and more recently in functional movement assessment and training. Liesl began her yoga journey over a decade ago when she was searching for ways to deal with high levels of stress and anxiety. She has found the benefits of yoga to be limitless, both emotionally and physically. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training with the Bija Ananda program here in Concord in 2006.
She is extremely grateful that her path led her to At Om and the practice of shakti flow, which has profoundly impacted her life. She just finished the advanced teacher training with At Om in August 2016 and feels blessed to be joining with the studio in this new endeavor.
Liesl is beyond excited to share her knowledge as a physical therapist and the joys of yoga with others. It has been a dream of hers for some time to blend her profession and her passion in a meaningful way. Her classes in the Movement Laboratory are slow meditative experiences that encourage a deep inward focus and are truly appropriate for all levels. They combine the heart of shakti flow with detailed guidance in embodied anatomy that allows practitioners to feel their way into muscular balance and symmetrical alignment. A variety of props are used to create a therapeutic atmosphere.
Liesl believes that everyone holds within them the capacity for self healing and that cultivating a focused internal awareness and a spirit of loving kindness and compassion towards our bodies is essential.
Liesl also loves being in nature, hiking, rock climbing, being a fun mom to her 7 year old daughter, and dancing almost anywhere, but especially in her living room!!!!
