He sits at the lotus feet of his guru’s guru, Amritananda Nath Saraswati, to study the beautiful wisdom of sri vidya tantra at the goddess temple Devipuram in Vishakapatnam.
He sits with Shiva worshippers on the banks of the Ganges river and slips into its awakening flow, following it all the way to its glacial source. He treks the Himalayas and finds refuge in their fabled caves.
He meditates on mortality among the funeral pyres of Varanasi.
In 2004 he completed an intensive teacher training in Jivamukti Yoga.
In 2005 he gratefully earned a BA from the California Institute of Integral Studies where he focused on the the philosophy and spirit of yoga through the unfolding of ancient sanskrit scriptures.
In 2006 he trained to teach Prana Vinyasa Yoga with Shiva Rea.
Asa was incarnated and raised in a log cabin in the NH woods without electricity or running water.
He was guided from birth by a Wiccan priestess to revere the elements as divine and to celebrate their power through ritual.
As a teenager he began studying and practicing the teachings of Buddha.
In 1999 he moved to San Francisco and discovered flow yoga. He quickly fell in love with the meditation in motion, immersed himself deeply, and committed fully to a disciplined daily practice.
In 2001 on a small island in the Gulf of Thailand he studied Thai Yoga Bodywork, trained to teach yoga, and began guiding yoga and meditation classes.
In 2002 he opened At Om Yoga Studio on Main street and began guiding flow yoga classes daily.
In 2003 he pilgrimaged to India. This direct access to deep yoga wisdom transformed his practice and teaching.
He returns to India every few years to sustain his tether to the source of yoga by way of holy sites and awakened saints.
In Dharmsala he studies Tibetan tantrik Buddhism with His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
He falls into the loving embrace of the hugging saint Amma Amritanandamayima at her Ashram in Kerala.
In 2006 he received initiation in the kaula lineage of sri vidya tantra by the grace of Parvathi Nanda Nath.
In 2009 he completed a yoga teacher training with Parvathi in this lineage. The wisdom she continually and articulately illuminates is his guiding light upon this path.
Through his integration of these complementary paths and practices Asa intends perpetually to coalesce this expansive yoga experience into an accessible and relevant collective evolution.
Asa guides shakti flow yoga classes daily and shakti flow yoga teacher trainings annually.
